Thanks for joining me!
Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
If you are enjoying this blog at all, I mean even a little bit, you may be interested to know that I have written two books about my adventures in mostly Lotus cars across the country and back.
WARNING: SHAMELESS PLUG
Since I won’t be starting the actual drive until mid-April, you may find the anticipation is just too much and these books will help get you to departure day. As a reviewer on Amazon wrote: “If you can’t get out in your old car, this is a great way to do so as a vicarious passenger with Ross Robbins in his various old and interesting cars…” It includes several stories that involve this very Elan. This is also a good way to get a flavor of what might happen along the way on the Mega Trip as I plan it. As they say, past performance is a good predictor of what is to come, right?

“A friend of mine asked me, ‘What kind of idiot would drive a thousand miles to drive a thousand miles, to drive a thousand miles home?’ The answer, apparently, is one like me. Exactly like me, in fact.” That very quote launches one of the adventures in the first book “Road Trip! Chasing Blue Skies on Roads That Go Forever.” The book was published in 2013 in paperback and Kindle and is available here: https://www.amazon.com/Road-Trip-Chasing-skies-forever/dp/0615771971/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Road+Trip%21+Chasing+Blue+Skies&qid=1612460986&s=books&sr=1-1

The second book arrived in 2018 and captured some of my longer drives as well as some of the stories from vintage racing my race prepared Elan. It is titled “Highways Byways and Racetracks; Adventures on Asphalt” As one reviewer wrote: Well, Ross Robbins has done it again. It seems there is just no stopping him as he has once again written a book about more of his haphazard and unconventional adventures in driving mostly Lotus cars across this country and others. While caution may not be his strong suit, a willingness to try anything is. The resulting stories will either make you wish you were with him or glad you weren’t. This is also available on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Highways-Byways-Racetracks-Adventures-Asphalt-ebook/dp/B07J2X5XS7/ref=sr_1_1?child=1&keywords=highways%2Cbyways+and+race+track&qid=1612461876&s=books&sr=1-1

About Me
Hi, I’m Ross and I’m a tripoholic. I love driving especially in my old cars and then writing about the adventure that always follows. I’m old enough to know better but that doesn’t stop me. If you like stories of the road, every word true no matter how far fetched it may seem, then grab a beer or a cup of coffee and join me!

Hi Ross I only have 3 questions.
1 are you crazy
I already know the answer
2 I Ann also crazy and going with you.
3 Has anyone been crazy enough to say they would follow you.

1.Yes, but in a good way!
2. No, she said to call her every night though.
3. Several people have said they will drive a small segment with me, then do the sensible thing and go home.

I’ve read both books and absolutely love your adventures. Although I am not and Elan driver I felt I was right there with you – even in the midst of snowy nowhere waiting for rescue. I wish I were on your proposed route to enjoy a beer with you but, instead, I will cheer you along from the comfort of my lanai hammock overlooking paradise. I will also donate to Roundup River Ranch so the kids can benefit from your crazy-wonderful adventure. LOVE it!
