Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
In my blog I tried to capture the planning for, and the taking of, a trip of a lifetime in a very old small car. Over the six weeks of the trip I had accumulated enough content that I thought it might make a book. Of course, much of the content in the book is identical, the rest only slightly modified to make it read more smoothly rather than standing alone as individual blog posts. Since you were a follower of the blog it occurred to me as I was working it into a book that you might want a copy of the finished product. The book is called, Cross Country with Elan and is available on Amazon, here: https://www.amazon.com/Cross-Country-Elan-Small-Lifetime/dp/B09K25RXJ1/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Cross+Country+with+Elan&qid=1640285559&s=books&sr=1-1
So, now that it is book form, why should you as a blog follower even care? I can think of three reasons you may want it.
- The blog was posted in real time and is not nearly as coherent as the book which has had editing and review. It really makes the whole process of planning and taking the trip much more clear as to how it actually unfolded.
- You may have missed some of the key parts by signing up late to get the posts or simply missing some posts. Plus I have added some transitions and explanations for choices I made that are not in the blog at all.
- The blog is going away soon and the story will not be available a year from now or to look back at in the future. With a book on your shelf, you will always have a record of the trip and my silliness. That is almost priceless, isn’t it?
Thank you to all who have followed my crazy adventure and supported me with help or simple encouragement along the way. It was as the subtitle says: An old small car, an old tall man and a trip of a lifetime!
PS. If you have even some minor interest in the Cross Country book, you may also be interested in two others I have on Amazon which are anthologies of many adventures in old cars, mostly Lotus but not limited to Lotus. They are:

Hi, I’m Ross and I’m a tripoholic. I love driving especially in my old cars and then writing about the adventure that always follows. I’m old enough to know better but that doesn’t stop me. If you like stories of the road, every word true no matter how far fetched it may seem, then grab a beer or a cup of coffee and join me!
